Carlsbad families invited to Back 2 School Bash at Poinsettia Park

It’s almost time to head back to school. (File photo by Chris Stone/Times of San Diego) Carlsbad Mayor Pro Tem Priya Bhat-Patel and Carlsbad Unified School District Board Vice President Michele Ward are inviting local families to kick off the new school year at the annual Back to School Bash, happening on Thursday, Aug. 7, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Poinsettia Park, in the open space near the playground. The free, family-friendly event aims to bring the community together with live music, light refreshments, and a wide range of resources to help families start the school year feeling informed and connected. Local organizations will be on site offering giveaways and sharing information on educational, wellness, and youth programs. Confirmed participants include: Bach 2 Rock (also providing live music) Beacon Optometry Carlsbad Educational Foundation Carlsbad Firefighters Association Carlsbad Police Officers Association Carlsbad Unified Council PTA Child Development Associates Dogs on the Run Girls on the Run – San Diego Girl Rising Club from Sage Creek High School Girl Scouts of San Diego Great Smiles Pediatric Dentistry Kids for Peace Kumon Carlsbad – South League of Women Voters of North County San Diego Migrant Education Program New Village Arts Punch Therapy Revere from Pacific Ridge School San Diego Bike Coalition (sponsored by SANDAG) Speak Up for the Poor Studio ACE…and more to come. Guests will also enjoy complimentary treats sponsored by GelatoLove and Señor Grubby’s, as well as opportunities to meet other families, students, and community leaders in a relaxed and welcoming setting. “We’re excited to bring families, schools, and local partners together in one space to celebrate the start of a new school year,” said Mayor Pro Tem Priya Bhat-Patel. “This is about building community and making sure every family feels supported.” “Whether you’re looking for school-year resources, fun for your kids, or just a chance to connect with other families, this event is for you,” added Board Vice President Michele Ward.
